Who We Are
Daughters of the Ganges (DOTG) is a socially conscious brand that brings handcrafted, ethically made products from India. Our mission is to empower vulnerable and marginalized communities, especially women, by supporting artisans who pass down traditional crafts. Through Fair Trade principles, we ensure artisans are paid fairly, allowing them to continue their cherished traditions. Each product you purchase from DOTG tells a story of dedication, love, and transformation, helping to change lives and preserve precious skills.

Style that Speaks Comfort and Glamour
We source our products from artisan communities that have passed on their skills through the ages and are keen to nurture their cherished traditions and crafts. Each product that you purchase from DOTG is a testimony of the love and dedication exhibited by our artisans and tells a story of how lives can be changed
Our mission
Our mission is to empower and uplift our primary stakeholders — the artisan communities. With a growing global appreciation for handcrafted goods, we aim to connect our artisans to this expanding market through Fair Trade practices. Together, we strive to build a movement that fosters stability, self-sufficiency, and lasting impact by providing artisans with sustainable income and opportunities for growth.

Ethos of DOTG
The ethos of DOTG is one of Fair Trade and sustainability. We give our artisans and their crafts the respect that is due to them, making them part of our growing family. Time is devoted to train our artisans to ensure that they have sustainable jobs and new skills to carry with them through their lives. Women that are unable to leave their homes are given raw materials and tools to work from home, making communities more inclusive. Fair and equal wages, sustainable and ethical sourcing and safe work environments also fall under the umbrella of Fair Trade and are some of our key objectives. In our efforts to bring about change, we also provide after school programs for the children of artisan communities to ensure that their children have a bright future.

Meet Our Founders
Kalpana — With a career spanning international sourcing and home textiles since 1986, Kalpana has worked extensively across India, Germany, and China. After years in the corporate world, she returned to India and discovered a passion for ethical, artisan-centred business while working with a handmade jewellery company. This experience led her to co-found DOTG with Priyanka — a venture rooted in purpose, fairness, and community impact.
Priyanka — With a strong background in finance, Priyanka moved to London in 2014, driven by a desire to build something meaningful that celebrates Indian craftsmanship. That vision led to the founding of DOTG. As the structured, strategic mind behind the brand’s London operations, she balances Kalpana’s bold creativity — together creating a purpose-led partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared values.
Our founders believe in building not just a brand, but a community. Their partnership is grounded in a shared vision of empowerment, sustainability, and ethical practices.
